Patients in Plano, TX looking for a less stressful dental experience should consider our sedation dentist

There are many patients who go to the dentist in a state of fear or filled with anxiety. More, still, don’t go to the dentist at all because of this. This fear typically rears its head when thoughts of noisy, pain-inducing drills, poked gums, and oral surgery come to mind (no matter if these thoughts are usually exaggerated by our imagination). Dr. Bindu Kolli and her team at SouthFork Dental offer sedation therapy to patients in the Plano, TX area to help them manage this dental anxiety.

Dr. Kolli utilizes several sedation therapy methods, depending on the situation. There are several options available that may be prescribed. These include:

  • Oral sedatives – An oral sedative helps provide a relaxing experience during dental procedures. An oral sedative may be prescribed the night before a procedure so that the patient is able to get a full and restful night’s sleep. Another oral sedative could then be offered around an hour before the scheduled appointment. The oral sedative allows the patient to remain conscious with reduced anxiety and, possibly, a bit sleepy.
  • Nitrous oxide – A gas delivered to the patient during the procedure which wears off quickly so that the dentist can let you drive home after the appointment.
  • Combination care – This approach of nitrous oxide and oral sedatives works well for patients that need to be eased into the procedure. Some nitrous oxide will be provided at the start of the procedure for anxiety relief and then you’ll be brought off that and the oral sedative which was taken prior to the procedure will allow you to be relaxed for the remainder of the procedure.

Dr. Kolli wants you to feel comfortable coming into SouthFork Dental regardless of if it’s for a simple exam or a more invasive procedure such as oral surgery. She would love to hear from you and will sit down and go over all available options with you so that you can begin to move away from the fear and anxiety that you normally have associated with dental visits. Please call and set up an appointment at 469-535-6939 today.
