Invisalign®: Clear, removable aligners straighten teeth effectively in Plano, Texas
SouthFork Dental is your source for treatments to correct crooked, crowded, gapped, or otherwise misaligned teeth. In addition to “conventional” orthodontics, Dr. Bindu Kolli offers clear teeth aligners in Plano, Texas and at her two other Dallas-Fort Worth area locations in Plano and Irving.
Invisalign®
Conventional orthodontics, such as braces, are a system of wires, brackets, and bands that place consistent, gentle force on the teeth to move them into proper position. Invisalign® is a more than 20-year-old technology that uses a series of clear teeth aligners to gradually correct misalignment and bite problems. These aligners are made from a smooth, BPA-free thermoplastic that is fit to your mouth’s unique specifications. They are transparent (so, they’re discreet). They are lightweight and unobtrusive (so, they’re easy to adapt to). They’re also effective. Like braces, aligners use gentle force to reposition teeth. Unlike braces, aligners are removable. As long as they are worn as directed by Dr. Kolli, they can correct many different types of malocclusion. She won’t know what type of treatment is best for you until after your teeth are examined.
The process
If Invisalign® is right for you, Dr. Kolli uses a sophisticated digital scanner to create a 3-dimensional model of your teeth. Proprietary ClinCheck software then maps out every stage of treatment. We can show you exactly how your teeth will be repositioned throughout treatment. That way, you can “try on” your new smile before treatment begins. This virtual model is also used to create the aligners that straighten your teeth. A series of aligners are required over the course of treatment. Each aligner tray corresponds with a different stage of treatment. So, it’s important to wear the trays in the correct order. You’ll wear each tray for two weeks. Dr. Kolli will visit with you every six weeks to check that treatment is progressing as it should, and to give you more aligners. The number of trays that are worn and, in turn, the total treatment time depends on the type of misalignment that we’re correcting and the extent of the condition.
For treatment to stay on track, it’s important to wear the aligner 20 to 22 hours each day. Only remove the aligner for eating, brushing, and flossing. Aligners are easy to care for; rinse them every night and brush with a toothbrush to prevent stains, and to keep them fresh and healthy (so, they don’t promote the bacteria that produce tooth decay). Use warm (not hot) water when cleaning to prevent warping.
SouthFork Dental patients love that the aligners are clear. All others see is your beautiful smile! They appreciate that there are no wires or brackets to clean around. They can continue to eat sticky and hard foods, with no hardware getting in the way. Invisalign® is also hassle-free due to their design, aligners are not prone to breakage like wires. They’re both easy to care for and to wear.
